Sometimes, if we look closely at our past, we can see the path to our future. Chefs remember family meals. Musicians recall the songs of their grandparents. Athletes treasure playing catch with a parent. I remember all of those things, too—but what shaped me most was my mom’s never-ending collection of animals. Not just cats and dogs, but rabbits, goats, chickens… even a donkey at one point. And no, we didn’t live on a farm.
I may not have realized it then, but that wild and wonderful household sparked something profound in me: a deep desire to care, to serve, and to love animals. Especially those that rely on us—our pets—for protection, sustenance, and affection.
Even today, lost pets seem to find me. Whether they’re following me down the street or stopping in front of my tiny all-electric I-MiEV, I always take the time to help them home. I call, I knock on doors—whatever it takes. No matter how busy I am, I never ignore a pet in need. And the joy I’ve found in helping them is one of my life’s greatest gifts.
These days, I share my home with a lively pack of my own:
Samantha, a 16 year old spicy tabby cat.
Chuck, a headstrong 13-year-old Cockapoo who happens to be deaf.
Bob, a sweet but spirited 5 year-old German Shepherd/Pittie mix.
Lilith, an English Bulldog mix that joined us after multiple years of having babies, but who is now spayed.
…And of course, my wonderful husband Kevin, who supports my love of animals and helps keep this crew safe and secure.
Yes, I’m a pet sitter—but more importantly, I’m a professional pet sitter. This isn’t a side gig. It’s not a weekend hustle. It’s my career, and it’s my calling. I treat your pets as I do my own and care for your home with the same respect I give to mine. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for the animals entrusted to me.
I got my start back in 2006 when I stumbled across an ad for a part-time pet sitting job. I thought, “Interesting”! What I didn’t know then was that I had just stepped into my true life’s work. Everything clicked. Everything made sense. I had found what I was meant to do.
Since then, I’ve built a team of like-minded sitters who share my values and dedication. We’re always learning—from books, classes, and one another—so that we can provide the very best for our clients and their pets. We believe in science-based training, compassionate care, and empowering pet parents with the right resources.
To deepen my knowledge, I attended the Victoria Stilwell Academy for Dog Training & Behavior, and I’m continuing my education with courses on everything from welcoming new puppies to serving as an end-of-life doula for aging pets.
We also believe in giving back. We regularly volunteer and donate to local organizations, including: Our Giving Garden (pet pantry), LifeLine Animal Project and Act2Pups.
Being a pet sitter isn’t just what I do—it’s who I am.
“By the way, Barnum and Barbara are saying good things about the new walker. Thanks, it’s so nice that I can depend on you always having such good people.”
